1. Purpose & Function

·     Acts as a hydraulic air damper actuator, enabling precise control of combustion airflow across different stages (low-fire, high-fire, etc.).

  • Operates mechanically via fuel-pressure, not electrically—uses oil pressure to move the damper arm to a predefined position.

2. Location & Integration

  • Mounted on the air damper assembly (“hydraulic jack with air damper” in burner diagrams).
  • Each damper stage (1st, 2nd, 3rd for multi-stage units) has its own jack mechanism to correspond with nozzle stages .

3. Adjustment & Operation

  • Airflow adjustment:
    • A hexagonal body and ring nut allow fine adjustment—turn clockwise to decrease airflow, counter‑clockwise to increase airflow.
  • Use during commissioning: After setting fuel pressure and nozzle size, the jacks are adjusted so damper movement matches required airflow for each stage.

4. Service & Troubleshooting

  • Leakage or drift:
    • If a jack leaks or the damper fails to hold position, it can cause lean flame or combustion instability—as reported in field forums → repair or replace the jack unit rather than over-tightening adjustment nuts.
  • Replacement process:
    • Typically held with a gland-nut on the oil feed. Use gland-nut pliers to unscrew.
    • Once removed, the oil feed can be blanked off if not using damper control.

Notes

Hydraulic Jack Assembly

Often referred to by part numbers like 3006911, C7001039, 3020500 on aftermarket listings.

Jack & Damper Kit

OEM assemblies share compatibility across PRESS G family; specs match F10/F20/R40 series .

6. Commissioning Checklist

1.        Set nozzle & pump pressure first (e.g. 12 bar per specs).

2.        Adjust hydraulic jacks:

o   Turn hex body to calibrate damper positions for each combustion stage.

3.        Test burner through all stages while monitoring smoke/flue gas; fine-tune jack settings for optimal combustion.

4.        Inspect for leakage: Replace any leaking jack; ensure secure gland nut connection.
